The Paul Smiths Gabriels Volunteer Fire Dept. is constantly look for new and interesting ways to challenge our membership’s team-cohesion, abilities, and skills to work together to achieve the desired results.
Tucker Farms Inc. was gracious enough to provide us with exactly one of those opportunities. The corn maze presented our members with a venue in which to train outside of their comfort zones and to rely on other members of their team to help guide them through the extensive maze, in the dark, to achieve the ultimate goal of identifying way points within the maze and then working their way back out in an efficient manner. This tested our members’ ability to communicate simply and effectively with one another by radio, to develop trust with each other, to improve our strategic planning skills, as well as critical thinking and adaptive responses to challenging circumstances.
There is no doubt that the maze and staff at Tucker Farms helped our members to further improve their communication skills and their ability to overcome challenging circumstances. Their staff was informative and accommodating, and we certainly look forward to working with this great organization in the future.
